FV at Alexander BarIt’s a good feeling when you know you’re getting out there and making moves. This past week I did three gigs as Fruit Vendor – the first, at Weinhaus & Biergarten in the city on Tuesday eve was a mellow background music affair where I got to share the platform with the Royal Commoners (an easy indie-folk rock duo). The second was at the Alma Café in Rosebank, which was an intimate music listening and appreciation night, where I was delighted to play for a handful of close friends and family and share the bill with the formidable folk artist Dave Knowles – great musician. On Saturday night past I got to open for hands down one of the tightest bands I’ve had the privilege of seeing – the Triveno Smith band at the Old Mill Theatre in Paarl. After being a little distant with regard to my live singing circuit, it took at least three gigs to get my voice back up to standard and it really came through on Saturday night.

What I’m really excited to share this morning is something of a whole new nature: print advertising. I recently designed a website for my 2nd official web design client: The Street advertising magazine. In a bit of a trade off in addition to my fee, they included a 1/3rd of a page spread advertising my singing services. I also happen to be the only artist as yet featured in the entertainment section, which I’m quite happy about. Have a look:
