One of my best friends Raynard Stander (aka Reinhart Rymhard) was featured in the latest issue of Get Accepted – a magazine aimed at school leavers. Check it out here – Raynie is on page 44. I’m so glad the word about him is finally getting out there. In my opinion, he’s one of SA’s undiscovered diamonds – and that’s not just ’cause he’s a good friend. In fact, just yesterday someone I know was raving about how Raynie’s performance at Stellenbosch’s Heritage Festival in 2012 was on the next level! This particular person’s mom thought he’s the best rapper/poet she’s ever heard.
Raynie is no newbie to this blog – the two of us collaborated on our first major festival performance last year for Woordfees (Word Festival) called Gemengde Oorsprong: Hemel in Aardse Kruike (Mixed Heritage: Heaven in Earthen Vessels). That show was an exploration of the human condition and “coloured” identity, which mixed various genres of music with spoken word. Check out this clip:
I also produced the music and artwork for Raynie’s poem As Ek Alleen Is. Have a listen:

One of my projects that I hope to complete this year is Raynie’s full length EP – just have to find and MAKE the time.
