Week 3 of my DIY Beats Challenge – where I force myself to compose one small song a week to get into the habit of composing unabashedly, exercising my creative mind, polishing my production and actually finishing stuff for once.

So last week’s track “Hospice Shopping” was received a little warmly, but my friends thought it needed more bass. I also noticed that in comparison to some of my peers’ beats – mine sound quite soft. I’ve amped what you’re about to hear more and also focused on freeing up the dynamic range abit so that you can hear every instrument.

You’ll also hear that this is my first foray into working with strings, I tried to understate the strings in this one somewhat – I hope that my four part harmony knowledge from a few years back is reflected in some way, if not forgotten.

Enjoy “Mama’s Old Jersey” and give me some feedback on what I can do better for next week.
